We all wonder at the resolution of visually wonderful images or videos that we see in the movies today. Really they will be of high clarity. Do you know how much their resolution could be? Machu Picchu one of the wonders of the world was captured in 16(15.95) gigapixel resolution in 2012 by Jeff Creamer. The image was captured using Canon 7D with 400mm lens consisting of 1920 pictures with 18 megapixel each image, which was recorded by a photo-robot in 1 hour and 44 minutes and stitched all images together. The images sizes around 6.9Gb and taken around 1 hour to upload to the site.

2. Rome Italy 20 gigapixel

Rome was captured in 20 gigapixel resolution in November 2013 by Jeffrey Martin. The image was captured using Canon 5DMkIII , with 400mm lens. The image capturing was done around 3 days. This image was also captured in thousand individual images and was stitched together to 20 gigapixled spherical panorama and processed using a powerful Toshiba Celsius workstation.

3.Paris 26 giga pixel

Paris consisting of famous monuments like Eiffel tower , the Louvre , Beaubourg was captured in 26 gigapixel resolution in September 2009 by Martin Loyer and Arnaud Frich. The image was captured using 2 Canon 5D Mark II , with 300mm lens with each image having 21.1 megapixels. All the 2346 individual images were stitched automatically using Kolor Autopano software.

4. Prague 34 gigapixel panorama

Panoramic photo of Prague, Czech Republic was created from 2600 individual photos by Jeffrey Martin in May 2013. The image was captured from the top of Petrin Tower , using a Canon 1-DX camera and shot for about 1.5 hours. If you print this photo at 150 DPI (dots per inch), it would be 44 meters (130 feet) long.

5.Tokyo Roppongi Hills 45 gigapixel

This is a 45-gigapixel resolution image shot from the top of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower. It was shot in September 2012 with the kind assistance from the management of Roppongi Hills Mori Tower, as well as some journalists from the Asahi Shimbun. The image was shot with a Canon 7D camera with 400mm lens.The camera was mounted on a special “gigapixel robot” called the Clauss Rodeon. which allowed the camera to move and shoot very quickly, more than one photo every second.

9.Shanghai Skyline 272 gigapixel

Shanghai one of the most populous cities of the world was captured in 272.31 gigapixels in May 2010 by Alfred Zhao. The image was captured using Epic Pro , Canon 7D and Canon 2X cameras with 18megapixel each image. The image was captured in 8 hours , in 12000 individual images with an average of 2.4 seconds per images. The whole image was stitched by sep , 2010. The raw image was sized around 1.24 TB.

10. London 320 gigapixel panorama

The biggest panorama of London was captured in 320 gigapixel resolution from the BT tower. The spherical panorama was shot by Jeffrey Martin, Holger Schulze and Tom Mills and then subsequently created by Jeffrey Martin . It is comprised of 48,640 individual images shot over a period of three days and processed over a period of three months using a powerful Fujitsu Celsius R920 workstation . The pictures were taken using Canon EOS 7D cameras with EF 400mm f/2.8 IS II USM lenses and Extender EF 2x III teleconverters driven by special Rodeon VR Head ST robotic panorama heads from the Clauss company in Germany. If printed at normal resolution, the photo would be 98 meters long (323 feet) and 23 meters high (77 feet) – almost as big as Buckingham Palace.

Mont Blanc 365 giga pixel 

Mount-Blanc, Europe  was captured in 365 gigapixel resolution , which is the biggest image captured in the world. The image is taken by a team of Filippo Blengini , Alessandra Bacchilega , Guido Bethaz , Matteo La Torre , Rolan Clauss in 2014. The panaroma was composed of 70,000 individual images captured over 35 hours with one Canon EOS 70D camera mounted on a Clauss Rodeon piXpert panoramic head.
